Welcome Celebrations

Voices of the People will feature groups from the hundreds of applications received by the Presidential Inaugural Committee to take part in inaugural festivities. Those participating include the DC Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, King’s Academy Honor Choir, the Republican Hindu Coalition, Montgomery Area High School Marching Band, Marlana Van Hoose, Maury NJROTC Color Guard, Pride of Madawaska, Webelos Troop 177, Northern Middle School Honors Choir, American Tap Company, South Park and District Pipe Band, Everett High School Viking Marching Band, TwirlTasTix Baton Twirling, and Celtic United Pipes and Drums.

The Voices of the People will begin at approximately 1:15 PM at the Lincoln Memorial.

The Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration will take place following Voices of the People and will be broadcast live to the nation from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. It will feature historic remarks from President-elect Donald J. Trump and special appearances from Toby Keith, Jon Voight, The Piano Guys, Lee Greenwood, RaviDrums, 3 Doors Down, and The Frontmen of Country (featuring Tim Rushlow, former lead singer of “Little Texas”, Larry Stewart of “Restless Heart” and Richie McDonald of “Lonestar”). The Celebration will also feature the participation of military bands as we honor our Armed Forces across all inaugural events and a fireworks show by Grucci at the conclusion.

This celebration will combine a diverse group of performers and is the official kick-off to the inaugural events. The concert will include an appearance by the President-elect Donald J. Trump.

Where will "Voices of the People" take place? How do I get there?

The pre-program will be located on the South West end of the Reflecting Pool, on a stage between the Korean War Memorial and the Reflecting Pool.

What Metros can I take to the event?

There are 5 Metro Stations that will be serving the event:

  • Foggy Bottom GWU
  • Farragut West
  • McPherson Square
  • Federal Triangle
  • Smithsonian Stations

All Stations can be accessed via the Blue and Orange line trains.

What items are prohibited from the Welcome Celebrations and Inaugural events?

For your safety and the safety of others, the following items are prohibited at the Welcome Celebrations and from all official Inaugural events:

  • Aerosols
  • Ammunition
  • Animals other than service/guide animals
  • Backpacks and bags exceeding size restrictions (18” by 13” by 7”)
  • Bicycles
  • Balloons
  • Coolers
  • Drones and other unmanned aircraft systems
  • Explosives
  • Firearms
  • Glass, thermal, or metal containers
  • Laser pointers
  • Mace / Pepper spray
  • Packages
  • Selfie Sticks
  • Signs exceeding the size restrictions (20” x 3” x 1/4”)
  • Structures
  • Supports for signs and placards
  • Toy guns
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Any other items determined to be potential safety hazards

Will parking be provided and if not where can I park?

Parking will not be provided from the event.

Parking Panda is a service where you can reserve a parking space for inauguration.

All other available parking will be street or open garages that are not closed due to inaugural ceremonies.

Where will public restrooms be located?

Public toilets, including those with ADA capability, will be located throughout the National Mall on Inauguration Day.

Will food and beverages be available at the Welcome Celebrations?

Concessions tents will be located around the event site. Hot drinks and water will be available such as hot chocolate, coffee, and tea.

Where do I enter the event?

Credentialed Guests with Reserved Seating will Enter through the 23rd Street and Constitution Ave Security Checkpoint.

Special Guests with Reserved Seats and Special Guests with Standing Room Tickets will Enter through the Henry Bacon Drive and Constitution Ave security checkpoint.

All General admission standing room will enter through 17th Street and Constitution Ave Security Check Points.
